During my freshman year, I enrolled in the Introduction to Health Science class. Intro to Health Science is a class at Spelman College for Sophomores that are health science majors. However, I took this class as a freshman because the other required courses were full. The most rewarding part of this whole experience was learning that I did not want to be a health science major anymore. My primary task was being a student, completing work, and also attending events at Spelman such as medical school visits and Morehouse School of Medicine First Look Program A challenging experience was attending Morehouse School of Medicine First Look Program. This program was an all-day event on a Saturday, starting at 8 am ending around 5 pm. The work was not a challenge, but staying engaged and liking what we were learning was the tricky part. I handled it by just listening and hoping for it to be over soon. After that day, as I observed my peers overly excited about the material and the event, I decided that being a health science major was not for me.

This experience was the beginning I needed to go seeking for a new major. Which eventually shifted my professional goals of being a doctor to another field. Since then, I became more intentional about the courses I enrolled in. I also learned in this experience to pay attention to how you feel in certain situations. I observed happiness, yet I did not feel the same joy. This experience is so crucial because it was the shifting point in my life for me to get to the 'big picture' of what I wanted to do. Now I am more intuitive and listen to my feelings at the moment.
